Tapping into the Rainbow Energy Field!

Every HypnoBirthing- The Mongan Method couple listens daily to the Rainbow Relaxation track, written by Marie Mongan, to condition their mind and body to relax down quickly and easily for their birthing day and parenting. Parents report that they quickly notice how they are able to relax down, and quiet their mind, after only listening for a few days. The benefits and results over many weeks, are astounding.

Whilst the benefit of relaxing down quickly is important, there is much more to this relaxation than just conditioning the mind and body. Helen Scard, a HypnoBirthing Practitioner, Reiki Master and Yoga Instructor, shares with us the symbolic meaning of the Rainbow, and how we are accessing an energy force within ourselves for complete balance.

Rainbows are often seen across the sky after rain appearing in the shape of a bow or arc, hence the name Rainbow. They are among the most beautiful of Mother Nature’s displays.

During my HypnoBirthing training I immediately recognised the Rainbow Relaxation as symbolically accessing our subtle energy body of the Chakras. Chakras are spinning vortexes of energy located inside the spine and spin in a clockwise direction. We can visualise this as our breath moves through our bodies. Our bodies are made of 80% water (rain) and our inner light (sun) creating the rainbow within. In Yoga practice the uniting of the masculine and feminine energies of Ha & Tha (Hatha) occurs through the imitation of nature in asana practices (postures) such as the tree, cat, cow, dog, bridge, tiger, lion, eagle, mountain etc. all the while linking our breath to movement, balancing our nervous system, regulating our circulatory system and balancing our hormones. The Chakras are directly linked to our endocrine system.

Yoga takes many forms, it is a word which means ‘Union/Relationship’ and the union between Mother and Child, Mother and Father, Father and Child is strengthened by the practice of being in relationship. When we view birth as a spiritual practice we see our light as the divine spark within all of us.

Mythically, the Rainbow is viewed as a gift from God or the Creator, and so we can also interpret the rainbow in HypnoBirthing as a gift to the Mother/Father co-creators of their unborn child. When babies begin to move in the womb, this is when the throat chakra becomes active and is how babies communicate to their parents.

Here in Australia, Aboriginal Mythology of The Rainbow Snake or Serpent is the creator in the Dreaming which is the infinite period of time that has no end and is the creator of all beings. The Aboriginal rainbow is humanity; both energy and breath that brings life to people. In Irish mythology there is always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, (with HypnoBirthing International, the Gold is also at the beginning with your teacher’s qualification of the prestigious Gold Seal!). In the Christian faith after Noah saved the animals from the great flood, a rainbow appeared. And, in Ancient American Indian prophecy it is said that there will come a day when people of all races, colors, and creeds will put aside their differences, come together in love, joining hands in unification to heal the earth and all Her children. They will move over the Earth like a great whirling rainbow, bringing peace, understanding and healing everywhere they go.

The Chakras work specifically with our endocrine system of hormonal balance. We know that our hormones connect us to our feeling states and our feelings connect us to our spirit. All levels of our existence, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, ethereal can be balanced in preparation for birth so that this right of passage from maiden to mother can be a calm, beautiful experience to be treasured for all involved.

Each colour of the rainbow when viewed as chakras is interpreted below:

Red is the first chakra known as Muladhara (root support). It represents our family, ancestors and where we come from, our roots. It creates a sense of belonging and is paired with the Heart chakra (first love). The psychological function of this chakra is survival/self preservation. Babies will crawl to the breast for their first feed and require nurturing, skin to skin and breast milk.

Our second chakra is Orange and is known as Svadhistana (sweetness) sometimes referred to as Sacral chakra as it located within the pelvic area. It is the centre of our creativity. For women this represents the power to create life (the womb, genitals, kidney, bladder). In males, the endocrine gland is testicles, in females, ovaries. It is also our passion and pleasure centre. It is paired with the Throat chakra (clear expression).

Our third chakra is Sun Yellow Gold and its name is Manipura (jewelled city) often called the Solar Plexis as it located above the naval. We visualise the rising Sun bringing energy to our world. It is where we store our energy and where we sometimes ‘listen to our gut’. It is the centre of our will to use personal power in a balanced manner. This chakra is paired with our third eye centre (intuition).

Our fourth chakra is located at the heart centre of our chest. The color here is Green it symbolises regeneration and renewal (through breath, oxygenated blood). It moves love through your life, creates deep bonds with others, love of self, wholeness, healing. The name of the heart chakra is Anahata (unstruck). Paired with Root Chakra (survival/family/roots).

Our fifth chakra is located at the pit of our throat and embraces the neck and shoulder area. The colour here is Blue representing clarity and the name of this chakra is Visuddha (purify). It represents originality, expressing your authentic voice and speaking your truth without harming others. Paired with second chakra (creative expression).

Our sixth chakra at the brow is the colour Indigo (blue/purple) and the name of this chakra is Ajna (to perceive, to command). Located between the eye brows and known as the Third Eye, the all-seeing eye. It is the seat of wisdom and also of conscience. It is located in the pituitary gland and gives access to inner guidance. It is paired with the third chakra (energy bank/listen to the gut).

Finally the seventh Chakra, The color is Violet or White and this represents Universal awareness and bliss, sometimes referred to as 7th Heaven. It is located just above the head. Here there is no thought. It’s name is Sahasrana (the seat of the thousand petal lotus).

Listening to the Rainbow Relaxation during your pregnancy can take you and your partner into your subtle body awareness and when you listen during sleep you awaken refreshed and relaxed. The journey of pregnancy and birth is a very special moment in time whereby you can awaken the knowledge within by taking a HypnoBirthing International course (the original Mongan Method) and consciously tap into the ‘rainbow energy field’ in more than 45 countries around the world who will also be listening to their Rainbow Relaxation. This visualisation shows the relationship of the inter-connectedness of the sacred feminine for all women and their unborn babies.

Peace on Earth, begins with Birth!
