Patrica Cumming; HBCE, Doula
A few of the things I love about HypnoBirthing® include the differences I see in couples as they transition through the course, noting how positive & confident they become, how open they are to new possibilities and the realisation that birth can be a joyous experience. Lastly, I love the babies…cuddling those gorgeous newborns!
My other unique skills include being a certified Childbirth Doula. That came about several years ago when a HypnoBirthing mum in one of my classes asked me to support her during her home birth. I readily agreed and soon found that other mums wanted me to support them. I then decided to become a certified Doula. Now as I witness the power of the mind over and over again I have undertaken study to obtain a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy. One day I hope to be a Midwife too!
Charlotte Hogarth; Midwife, HBCE
I have always known that women needed to achieve a good headspace to labour and birth from my work in delivery suite, but after my second birth I realised it is not as simple as knowing what to expect and what you need to do. This is how I came to HypnoBirthing.
I have been lucky to have beautiful births for all of my children, however, how I felt about each of them is entirely different. This is the biggest difference HypnoBirthing made for me and my biggest love about the program. In mentally and emotionally preparing women and their birth teams for birth it means no matter what turn your birthing takes, you will feel empowered, you will not just have the birth you want but you will be ecstatic with your birthing experience.
I love how the program incorporates EVERY aspect of preparation within its program, especially preparing birth supports. For me teaching this course is not about preparing you for a drug free natural home birth (this course is perfect for that!), it is about teaching women and partners to be educated and to make their own choices for their pregnancy, birth and baby. It is about giving birth and control back to women and their families.
My other unique skills include my background and education as a midwife. I have worked in a number of hospitals in Queensland and interstate. I have worked in private and public systems, in low risk and high risk hospitals; I understand the policies, the education and especially how to navigate the system of midwives and doctors. I have a passion for educating women and families so also provide a number of other childbirth education options including birth preparation appointments and essential oil for pregnancy and birth. I also have 3 boys within 5 years so feel that is a skill in itself 😊.
I am a HypnoBirthing® Practitioner in Brisbane Western and Ipswich Suburbs and Surrounds
Tere Garnons-Williams; HBCE
Tere’s passion to support women during the childbearing years has come from personal experience (homebirth mother of one daughter); and her role as a long-time midwife in homes and hospitals; in remote, rural and urban communities. She strives to be ‘with women’, her knowledge gained through the sciences, the arts and the crafts of Midwifery, which now includes the knowledge of HypnoBirthing. Sources of her education vary and include formal, informal, research and story telling. As a woman, mother and midwife, her philosophy reflects that of HypnoBirthing International: that women’s bodies are sacrosanct; that childbirth is not to be feared as it is a natural expression of life…” She strongly believes women’s bodies and their babies know how to birth and that the “birthing of our children should be experienced calmly and joyfully”.
Tere is currently living in North QLD, she isn’t running classes, but is happy to be contacted if you are in the area about creating a more positive and empowering birth experience.
Danika Armstrong; HBCE, Post Partum Doula
HypnoBirthing taught me to trust in myself and through the birth of my beautiful boys I felt so strong and womanly. I was shocked to find that this was not normal. This lead me to become an educator with HypnoBirthing International so I could spread the word that women are meant to birth in a way that is truly empowering.
Since becoming an educator I have had the honour of working with families who also believe in a better birth. We have laughed and cried our way through classes. And the birth stories I have been privileged to play a small part in blow me away. I know that be teaching women to trust their bodies, giving them the tools to advocate for themselves and having them blossom in birth is creating a beautiful generation of babies. A gentler world starts with a gentler beginning.
